Good….Evening!
Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that this week has been really good. I’ve appreciated having a calmer mind, room to breathe, and a greater capacity to have conversations with my kids. I’ve also been making dinner more. Tonight I made my favorite soup–Italian Sausage & Vegetable–the perfect night-before-the-race meal for Janey. ( You can find it in my highlights.)
Here are some of the things that I would so love to have told you about in stories:
I read The Other Einstein. And when I say “I read” it, I mean I sat in my living room with an actual book in my lap. Cool, huh? But anyway, it’s an historical fiction about Albert Einstein’s first wife. It turns out–spoiler alert–that while Albert was a very brilliant man, he may not have been the nicest. Bummer.
Also, after my 20% off coupon and a $50 credit I had for returning a couple lamps way back when, I scored four PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW Williams Sonoma chairs at St. Vinnies for only $29 total! Right now they are up in the bonus room around my pretty, round, white table….but I may eventually resell them to make a profit. We’ll see.
Late last week, I got frustrated on the phone with the lady at the doctors’ office when she told me the doctor wouldn’t write a lab order for Janey to get her iron tested. I was rude and impolite and I immediately regretted it. Today, though, when we went in for her appointment, I got to apologize to that lady and she warmly accepted my apology. I was so grateful. My mom has taught me by example the infinite power of an apology. (Insert heart emoji here.)
I went to bed by 10 every night, exercised three times, and listened to all of Boyz II Men’s greatest hits. How are they not still at the top of the charts??
I got new sconces for the back guest room (remember how I ruined the old ones with the spray paint fiasco?) and some new sheets for the beds up there, too. I also received a couple of the things I had ordered for Skip’s room. Oh, by the way–you know that plaid rug I got him? I LOVE it. SUCH a gread purchase. I’ll make sure to share the link again when I share the full reveal.
I got to watch Skip run in two races this week; I’ll watch Janey run her second one tomorrow. I enjoyed seeing my girls dance in the kitchen together after dinner. I yelled at Skip for being disrespectful. Danin did great in her game last night. I missed it, but will look forward to the next one I am able to be at.
I got that longer, denim shirt I ordered from LL Bean and two other fabulous flannels from Duluth trading. All three are total winners.
Aannnddd, I still have that dang pimple-y rash on my face. My dermatology appointment can’t come soon enough.
So I guess that’s about it.
